How to check a tipster's record before you follow a pick

Five things to check

   Posted before kick-off

   A pick only counts if you could have bet it. Look for a timestamp and check it sits before the kick-off, not after.

2. 02

   Settled in public

   After the whistle the pick should reappear as won, lost or void. A score written next to the pick beats any summary.

3. 03

   Losses at full size

   The losing picks belong on the same page as the winners, in the same ink. A winner carousel with no record link is a sales page.

4. 04

   Level stakes

   Running P/L only means something at one unit per pick. Without stated stakes the numbers can be arranged to flatter.

5. 05

   Nothing edited

   Records that can be edited after the fact are not records. Ask what happens to a pick when it loses. The honest answer is: it stays.

Red flags

• Screenshots of wins only, never a full archive.
• A new channel every few months, with the old one gone.
• Forty picks a day, so something always looks right in hindsight.
• Odds described as a "banker" or a "lock".
• No prices attached, or prices you cannot find at a real book.

The worked example is our own record

We post one two-leg builder per matchday, and the record starts us off at 0-3 and -3.0 units. Every loss sits on the record with the price we quoted and the date it settled. That is the standard this page asks for, applied to us first. A short honest record beats a long curated one, and a record that only ever goes up is not a record.

Then read the pick, not the promise

Once the record checks out, the pick itself should carry a price, an implied probability and a written reason. That is what our free builder shows every matchday, and it is all a second opinion should ever need to give you.
